The City of Trees

Boise, Idaho is one of the most livable cities in the nation, rated consistently for its affordable housing, low crime rate, and public amenities like parks and performance centers. We’re quite proud of our state capital, and it seems others think highly of it, too - it is the highest populated city in the state as well as the fourth highest populated in the entire Northwest! Real estate in Boise Idaho is booming, and over 200,000 people call this city home as it continues to develop, expand, and improve.

What to Do in Boise

Boise is a popular city in Idaho’s Treasure Valley. Its centralized location amongst other high-density areas in the valley has invited many businesses and developers into the city. Boise has a wide variety of shops, businesses, galleries, museums, and theaters for the benefit of the public. Those who are interested in learning about Boise’s long and colorful history can visit Julia Davis State Park, where the Idaho State Historical Museum is located. This impressive collection of over 250,000 artifacts is open year round. But that isn't the only thing Julia Davis has to offer!

Julia Davis Park, which lays across 90 acres of Downtown Boise, is also the home of the Boise Art Museum, the Idaho Rose Society and Garden, Zoo Boise, and the Discovery Center of Idaho - an interactive science museum. The park itself is another excellent place to visit, for its massive lawn, paddle boat pond, and access to the Boise Greenbelt, a paved nature trail that links together all of Boise’s riverside parks.

The Boise River, is one of Idaho’s most well-known rivers. Though not the longest river in the state, the Boise is noted for its contribution to draining the Snake River Plain, a basin in the Southwestern portion of Idaho. This basin creates both Boise’s superb growing season as well as soil quality. One of Boise’s weekly events during the warmer months are Farmers Markets, where people from all over the area come to sell home-grown and crafted produce and goods. You don’t know fresh until you've bit into an Idaho apple or cucumber!

Real Estate in Boise Idaho

Crowning Boise are small, local mountains called the Boise Foothills. Homes in this area are often larger estates with excellent views. The undeveloped areas of these mountains have trails which can be explored on foot, bike, horse, or even ATV. Many people who explore the Boise Foothills visit Table Rock. This flat-topped summit is surrounded by cliffs, which gives off the impression of a large table. Once at the peak, visitors can enjoy a magnificent view of the rest of the Treasure Valley.

Still unsure about Boise? Boise is often considered the center point of the valley, surrounded by other cities like Meridian, Nampa, and Eagle. If you can’t find real estate in Boise Idaho proper but still want access to the city benefits, these neighboring towns and cities may be just the answer for you.

Meridian

Meridian is one of the fastest growing cities in Idaho - the population has increased by nearly 82% since 2000! This former dairy town located to the west of Boise is only 11 miles from the capital, and is the third highest populated city in the state, yet still comes across as a small, unassuming town.

Eagle

A largely suburban community, Eagle is widely known for its manicured lawns and homes. Despite being located only 9.5 miles Northwest to Boise, Eagle residents enjoy slightly more privacy than Meridian residents by virtue of their location in the northern part of the Treasure Valley.

Nampa

Nampa is Idaho’s second largest city. However, a few rural farming homes can be found further away from the city center as a reminder of Nampa’s agricultural history. A beautiful and bustling city, Nampa has statistically lower home prices than the rest of the Treasure Valley, and Boise is only 20 miles away.

Caldwell

Caldwell is a historic community that is located only 28 miles from the Boise center. Furthermore, it is the county seat of Canyon County. Home to the oldest private college in the state, Caldwell is considered an eclectic town that manages to bring together both historical tradition and modern style.

Star

Star is located to the west of Eagle, about 16 miles away from Boise. What began as a halfway point between Middleton and Boise soon developed into a charming city in the Treasure Valley - with a cost per square foot lower than the average Western United State! Star also has excellent parks for the public to enjoy.

Kuna

Though Meridian may have grown fast, Kuna grew faster - the population has nearly tripled since 2000! Kuna is a charming town to the south of Meridian, and only 18 miles from Boise. This is the home of the Kuna Caves, an abandoned lava flow system, as well as other very popular outdoor spaces.

Middleton

Though one of the smaller towns in the area, Middleton is a historical city that has quickly grown in the last decade. Found just to the Northeast of Caldwell, Middleton residents only have to drive twenty five miles in order to reach the bustle of Boise.

No matter whether you choose to live in Boise or the cities that surround Boise, living in the Treasure Valley is an opportunity for an excellent community. There’s always something to do in or around Boise! Come search for a Boise home today!
