Middleton, a smaller town in the Boise Metropolitan area, is home to only 5,801, as of the 2012 estimate, over 5.71 square miles. Middleton is connected to Idaho’s capital by State Highway 44, which connects to Interstate 84 at exit 25.

Middleton Community

Many residents of Middleton, like those in the rest of Idaho, enjoy getting outdoors. Thankfully, one does not need to go far in this town to find one of Middleton’s incredible public parks.

One such park is the Middleton Park Place, which is twelve acres of grassy field. This marvelous open space is currently in the process of being further developed, to include a track, horseshoe pits, and bike racks. However, it currently has conveniences like tennis courts, a baseball field, and play equipment.

Another highly trafficked Middleton park is the the Roadside Park, which has picnic facilities, horseshoe pits, and play equipment. However, this park also houses a Sherman Tank display, donated to the park in 1968 by the United States Department of the Army. This incredible piece of war weaponry memorabilia is one of the most popular exhibits in the park. Beyond that, visitors can cool their feet by the creek bed that runs through the area.

Middleton is set alongside the Boise River, which is about three-fourths of a mile to the south of the downtown area. The Boise River, one of Idaho’s popular recreational rivers for its floating and fishing during the summer, is bordered near Middleton by a local greenbelt, which allows for scenic, pedestrian or cyclist movement between Middleton, Star, and Caldwell, and allows for greater interaction between the three cities. Located between the other two, Middleton residents can easily enjoy events like Caldwell’s rodeos and Star’s equine activities at the 3K Event Center

Middleton schools are part of the Middleton School District, which has six schools: Middleton Heights Elementary School, Purple Sage Elementary School, Middleton Mill Creek Elementary School, Middleton Middle School, and Middleton High School.

Living in Idaho

Idaho’s vast and varied landscape makes living here an endless adventure. There is something to do or explore, and Middleton residents are close to many of them. For example, Middleton is only a short driving distance from Eagle Island State Park in Eagle, which has a swimming area, beach, water slide, frisbee golf, and other activities. This park is very popular in the Treasure Valley, and hosts many events annually.

To the east of Boise is Lucky Peak, a beautiful, man-made reservoir that is ideal for all sorts of water sports, including boating. This reservoir, which drains into the Boise River, has docks, a swimming area, picnic areas, and a sandy beach.

There are twenty-five other state parks in Idaho, and all of them are visited frequently throughtout the year. However, as well as state parks, Idaho has a large amount of national parks. The Craters of the Moon in Central Idaho, for example, is a wide expanse of lava field and grasslands. This preserve includes nature trails, volcanic histories, and spelunking opportunities for visitors.

Middleton History

Middleton wouldn’t be what it is today without its history. As one of the first settlements of Idaho state and the first settlement in Canyon County, it was parceled out by William N. Montgomery to settlers in 1863. The community started to grow, eventually earning the name Middleton from it’s geographic location halfway between Boise and a ferry on the Snake River.

If Middleton seems like the place to live for you, don’t hesitate to start your search today. This scenic town in the midst of the Boise Metropolitan area is both a beautiful community and an excellent place to find a home. Searching for houses in Middleton can be easy, fun, and efficient -- try it now!
