Meridian is one of Idaho's most popular cities, if the numbers are anything to go by. According to the 2010 census, 75,092 people live in Meridian within a 26.84 square mile radius. Over a century has passed since it's inception in 1891 as a small farming town on the meridian of Boise (hence the name), and Meridian has proven to be an excellent place to live. While not a large city, it is a bustling location that infuses both contemporary life with small-town community.

Investing in Meridian homes for sale offers a chance to move to both a state and town rich with strong cultural and recreational identities. There are many opportunities for a successful, enjoyable life here. No matter your background or lifestyle, there is a home for you in Meridian.

Neighborhoods

Meridian has many homes listed for sale. There are a total of forty-six different neighborhoods with homes for sale represented in the Meridian Multiple Listing Service (MLS). These neighborhoods include Alpine Pointe, off of Eagle Road, which is known for larger lot sizes, and Chateau Meadows, a quaint and tranquil neighborhood. Perhaps you might be interested in Heritage Commons, filled with matured trees that provide excellent shade for a potential home. Or maybe you’d enjoy Turtle Creek, characterized by a soft-colour palette that charms the eye. Whatever you are looking for in your future neighborhood home, Meridian is bound to have something that will appeal to your sensibilities.

Houses for Sale in Meridian

Culture

Meridian displays a strong worldly awareness, thanks in part to its many public art programs. In fact, Meridian’s own Town Hall has an art gallery in its third floor, called the Initial Point Gallery. Free to the public, this gallery showcases some of Idaho’s artists in various art mediums.

The Meridian Symphony Orchestra is both fun and educational. Founded in 1990, this orchestra is well known for its performances in Meridian as well as other areas in Southwestern Idaho. However, the Orchestra works beyond the stage. This organization has assisted in creating educational programs for students to help them cultivate an appreciation for classical music. They perform at many different public parks and centers, including Julius M. Kleiner Memorial Park.

Eager to try a premier shopping experience? The Village in Meridian is a fun, community-friendly complex. There is an ever growing number of shops and activities available, and patrons can enjoy an hourly water show at the fountain in the center of the The Village. Fashioned to resemble the intimacy of a European shopping center with its paved and lit roads between shops, The Village offers its own unique cultural influence to Meridian.

Meridian is in very close proximity to Boise, and people in both cities can enjoy the benefits of the other. Meridian residents have easy access to Boise's museums, music festivals, and street fairs. In fact, Meridian's central location in the Treasure Valley allows locals the chance to experience all sorts of activities in the area. There is never a dull moment in Meridian!

Recreation

Meridian residents are close to all sorts of activities. Thanks to the diverse terrain and semi-arid climate of Meridian and the surrounding areas, locals can enjoy camping, hiking, biking, and fishing, as well as season-specific activities. For example, in the winter, there is enough snow in the mountains for snow sports like snowboarding, cross-country skiing, and ice skating. However, for those who want to enjoy warmer weather activities, there are plenty of lakes in the area that offer swimming, skiing, and other fun.

There are several public parks near homes for sale in Meridian which are a great place to spend the afternoon, including Settlers’ Park, Tully Park, and Storey Park. One of Idaho’s most popular outdoor parks is Eagle Island State Park. Eagle Island State Park is a recreational center that includes paths and trails for hikers, bikers, and equestrian trainers alike, as well as water activities like fishing and swimming. The park even has its own water slide! Furthermore, Eagle Island is where many community activities are hosted, like Renaissance Fairs or Barbecues. Eagle Island has many great activities year-round.

Meridian boasts some very popular entertainment centers,  including different water parks, arcades, and bowling alleys. These locations are fun and imaginative ways to spend the day among the local community.

Meridian real estate has a lot of opportunities for residents to enjoy both their homes as well as the local area. Look into Meridian as you search for your new home!
