It's also one of the most beautiful urban fisheries in the nation. Within the river you'll find stocks of Smallmouth Bass, Carp, Rainbows, Brown Trout, Mountain Whitefish and Catfish. In the fall, the Boise River flourishes with released Steelhead from Idaho Fish and Game, attracting anglers to try their luck. Husky twenty inch 'bows or browns keep fishing coming back for "the big one."  Whatever fish you're out to catch, the Boise River provides great diversity.

If you're looking to venture outside our capital city, the fishing opportunities are endless. Lucky Peak Reservoir is an area favorite and just outside of Boise, one of the coolest and quickest places to get your line in the water and hooked up with Trout and Kokanee, and if you get lucky, Smallmouth Bass. The Reservoir is also frequented for climbing, hiking, camping and boating, and because it's in Boise's backyard, you won't have to spend a day's wages on gas. If you're looking for a place a bit less visited than Lucky Peak, travel just aways upstream to Arrowrock Reservoir and try your line for Trout and Smallmouth Bass. Anderson Ranch Reservoir is located along the South Fork of the Boise River where you can also get your fill of Trout and Kokanee. Find awesome, secluded campsites during your fishing expedition.
